Shito-Ryu karate

Karat is a martial art born in the Japanese Ryukyu Islands from indigenous fighting methods(To-de), with decisive influence of Chinese kenpo, and developed in Japan. Karate is, basically, a combat discipline; however practising Karate could also represent for the practitioner a healthy, long-lasting path into phisical and mental conditioning. Karate requires a good deal of body coordination, strong mind discipline and the proper attitude(kokoro) such as perseverance, discipline, continuous effort and patiente. Karate can be practiced as self development (budo), sport and combat sport as well as as a self defense method or martial art. Traditional karate places emphasis on budo and self-defense while sport karate does it rather on exercise and competition. Karate training commonly contemplates the practice of kihon (basics or fundamentals), kata (standardised sequence of techniques), and kumite (sparring.
Shito-Ryu Karate is one of the four fundamental Karate schools, toguether with Goju-ryu, Wado-ryu and Shoto-kan. The founder of Shito-Ryu was Kenwa Mabuni. Shito-Ryu, contrary with what occurs with the rest of karate scholls knows Katas from the three styles, being Shury-te, Naha-te and Tomary-te as well as some chinese forms; this repertoire makes Shito-ryu Karate a richer and more comprehensive school.
